DJ Rob Swift in Beijing

Beijing received a treat last week when DJ Rob Swift came to rock live music venue Yugong Yishan. Originally from Queens, NY, Swift was part of the DJ group, The X-ecutioners. Best known for being a turntablist (a DJ who manipulates sound using turntables and a mixer) his last project was The Architect, an album that blended hip hop and classical music. This time around, Swift is releasing Roc for Raida, in honor of fellow DJ of The X-ecutioners and close friend Roc Raida who died in 2009.

Swift came to Beijing straight from the SXSW Festival, to perform at Yugong Yishan for JUE Festival. JUE Festival, held in Beijing and Shanghai, is touted as the equivalent of SXSW in Austin, Texas. JUE Festival (March 9- 25) celebrates local creative communities while showcasing global talent.
